I am a working mother and have been using this system for more than 4 months. So far I haven't had a need to store milk for longer than 4 days, so I can't really comment if this system actually extends the milk's "shelf life", but can't complain about that either. However, almost every day I use this product I wonder what were the designers thinking. Here is why:

1. The bottles, except for the large 8 oz ones, just can't stay upright. The orange tops, while aesthetically pleasing and cheery, are too heavy for the bottles and make them tip over at a slightest breeze.

2. It's not visible in the picture, but there is an air vent piece for the feeding bottle that looks like a plastic straw. This piece has to be attached to the nipple to provide better ventilation (supposedly) and reduce gas and burping. But to me this is just another piece to wash and, possibly, to lose. Our other bottle is Avent, it doesn't require any tiny pieces and performs just as well. Actually I'm not sure if this piece actually does anything: once I forgot to put it in and didn't notice any difference.

3. The plastic nipple cap has a rounded top. This doesn't sound like a problem, but imagine that you have already prepared a bottle, put on that plastic straw and everything, and then you need to open the bottle to add a medicine, for example. With the Avent bottle I just twist off the top, turn it upside down so that it stands on the cap and it stays safe and clean. With this bottle you'll have to find some clean surface to put it on and then struggle to keep the whole contraption from rolling. Also it is rather difficult to put the cap on, it seems to be a bit too tight.

4. The bottle volume is overstated. The 5 oz bottles actually hold 4.5 oz at best. The 4.5 oz mark is almost at the rim and the instruction advises to leave some space above the milk surface. Smallest bottle becomes useless in just a few weeks. Also the volume marks wash off very quickly, even when the bottles are hand-washed.

5. Now this is the biggest problem for me. The plastic ring top for the feeding has tiny inserts made of some porous white material. Unfortunately, after a while, some black growth (mold?) started to appear on those inserts. I've already discarded one ring but now I see the same signs on the second one. Boiling or even soaking in bleach does not help. This part can't be purchased separately, so I had to buy a new bottle.

On the bright side, it's good that the same bottle may be used for storing milk and feeding - less of the precious drops and nutrients get lost. It would've been perfect if the bottles were compatible with the breast pumps (I use Lansinoh), but alas... Also the bottles never leaked so far, even when they went flying off the shelf in the fridge(see p.1 above). The only leaking accident was when I tried to use the insulation piece and, apparently, didn't screw it on tight enough. I've never used it after that and, frankly, don't see much benefit in it. At least not that would be outweighed by a risk of spilling the hot water all over your baby.

Overall, I like the concept of this product and, if the manufacturer addressed the problems above, it would've been great. But for now I don't feel it deserves more than 3 stars.
